Siobhan Solberg is a classically trained violist who brings the rich, full sound of her instrument to today’s rock, pop, and jazz scene. With a background in symphonic and chamber music, Siobhan has enlivened numerous contemporary recordings with her unique musical aesthetics. Along with her talent as a violist, Siobhan brings her background in composing and arranging to her studio recordings, making her a highly flexible musician able to improvise and perform at the highest standards of professionalism. Having resided in the US and Europe and possessing fluency in German, French, and English, Siobhan conveys her broad view of the world of music to her work in the studio and on the stage.
Siobhan is a cofounder and member of Vespera, an edgy rock and pop string trio, and Hudson Pro Musica, a chamber music string trio. As an arranger and composer, she has crafted the string arrangements for pop artists, and her compositions have been performed in Germany, Puerto Rico, and the US. A frequent recording artist at local studios, Siobhan’s recent credits include movie soundtracks, jazz, rock, pop, and country recordings.
A graduate of Bard College, Siobhan received her Bachelor of Music Performance and Composition. At Bard, she was the recipient of the Siegel Memorial Price for outstanding performance and academic excellence and was honored with two of her original compositions featured at the Bard Performers Concert. While studying at Bard, Siobhan’s primary instructors were Maka Gustavson (viola) and Joan Tower (composition). Her expertise as a musician was further enhanced through master classes with Bruno Giuranna in Sienna, Italy and Erick Krüger in Viemar, Germany.
